***September 27, 2008 - 15th Annual National Public Lands Day will be held at Jamison Mill Park

National Public Lands Day is an opportunity to showcase our Nation's public lands and the importance of protecting natural resources through responsible use and volunteerism on lands managed by Federal agencies.  Thanks to our Friends group, volunteerism is a part of our everyday management of public lands at Philpott Lake.  With our Friends group setting the example of volunteerism by partnering on this NPLD event, the Corps will be inviting the public to join in on the volunteer efforts to enhance our natural and recreational resources at Philpott Lake. The project we're planning is the development of a streamside buffer at Jamison Mill Park along Nicholas Creek with the assistance of DRBA (buffer expertise, help with cost of trees, etc.). Thanks for all your support on this project. To find out how you can help, call the Philpott Lake Visitor Assistance Center at (276) 629-2703.

**Trail work on Philpott (Jamison Mill); Beginning on March 1, 2008 there will be scheduled a workday for the first Sat. of every month.
